Meet Amy

Amy Meet AmyAmy is the owner and founder of Body By Briggs: Integrated Wellness. Her truest joy is found in being able to help active men, women, and teens lead their happiest, healthiest lives.

An Oklahoma City native, Amy grew up playing many recreational sports, and spent her summers competing in United States Tennis Association state and regional tournaments. A recurring elbow injury prevented her from pursuing a college tennis career. This led her to seek an alternate path by which she could assist in both prolonging the competitive careers of elite young athletes and making recreational sports and daily activities more enjoyable for everyone.

Amy attended Oklahoma State University for two years prior to beginning her Physical Therapy education at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, where she completed her Bachelor of Science (B.S) in 1994. In addition to seeking out varied opportunities to continue her education through courses in exercise and manual therapy techniques, she also completed certificate programs in Photography and Digital Imaging at the Oklahoma School of Photography, and in 2005 graduated with a Masters of Library Science (MLS) degree from the University of North Texas. She believes that these educational experiences outside the realm of physical therapy have made her more appreciative of the visual arts and given her an increased appreciation of the gathering and sharing of all types of information.

During these outside pursuits, Amy never lost her passion for seeking out and refining the optimal movement patterns of the human body. As she continues to learn and best apply these patterns in her own life, she then passes on her experiences in order to maximally benefit the lives of her clients. She has studied hatha yoga in the ParaYoga™ tradition under the tutelage of Yogarupa Rod Stryker for over a decade, and is a candidate for certification in professional yoga therapy (PYT-C) through the Professional Yoga Therapy Institute. To hone her observation and evaluation skills, Amy has furthered her continuing education through Functional Movement Systems, Inc. and is FMS Level 1 and 2, SFMA Level 1, Y-Balance Test, and Fundamental Capacity Screen Certified. In addition, Amy is a Certified Functional Strength Coach (CFSC) and is a Precision Nutrition Level 1 Certified Professional (Pn1).

Outside of her own yoga practice and creating strength programs for herself, Amy enjoys making memories with her large extended family and her cherished friends; a hopeless science and space nerd, she traveled to the greater Kansas City area in August of 2017 to take in the nationwide solar eclipse with several of her cousins. She is an active parishoner at St. Ann Catholic Parish in Coppell, and serves the citizens of Irving/Las Colinas as an Election Judge during both county and municipal elections. A recovering musician and lifelong lover of live music, she is relishing the opportunity to have the best food and entertainment delivered to nearly to her front door at the newly-opened Toyota Music Factory. She is also happily owned by two young cats, Sutton and Jyn.
